I) Hail Tony ! So, how are things doing in fucking Västerås ?

Things are great I think. A lot of gigs have turned out being great. Last week we opened up a gig for Exodus and Hatespehere and that was awesome.

II) Well, you may have heard that bloody question more than 100 times, but why have you guys decided on changing the band’s name THRONEAEON into GODHATE which sounds more catchy but so commonly used ?

Commonly used?? Well, you probably mean using the word god. Yes, I know, but I don´t have the energy to reflect upon it. It is just a name, but I hope it will be easier for people to remember. I also like it when people get offended so the name fits great if you want to rip up peoples feelings. But remember that this name is not an attempt to fuck with the magic and energy. This is a reflection upon the authorities for organised religion.

III) Don’t you think that people may become confused about that name change? THRONEAEON fans may think the band has split up to become another band? And it is all the more confusing that your latest album, entitled Godhate, was released under the name of THRONEAEON but you claim it is the first official GODHATE release! Wow, it sounds so fucking complicated ah ah ! Tell us more about that please !

There’s nothing more to add really. We decided to change our name like 3 months before the release date, but as we were signed as Throneaeon we simply entitled the album Godhate. We don´t really claim it as our first official GODHATE release. It´s our second album and the last album released under the name Throneaeon.

IV) The latest album was released not so long ago. What did you hear about fans reaction, what did you read in the press? And what about the next release? Have you already begun to work on it ?

Yes, we are working with new material for our next release. We have like 6 new songs already and my plans are to have another album out in 2005. The Godhate album was released in 2003, but due to different opinions with our current label the album was put on hold until Februari 2004. But during this period some CD´s have been sent out and we have sold some too. And the reactions have been really great, as always… What we feel right now is that we need some more attention and a better distribution, so therefore we will start looking for a new label with better distribution.

V) Now I heard you had recently cancelled a gig in Växjö (Sweden). Why such a decision? In a general way, what are the main problems regarding gigs in Sweden? Personally, I attended a gig in Uppsala with MASTER (+ other bands) and, believe me, we were only 2 people in the fucking place (my fanzine mate and I + people from the bands of course)!!! Amazing! So, is it always like this? Are Swedish metalheads getting so big asses so that they can no longer move to gigs ?

It was the venue in Växjö that cancelled the gig because they had booked another band at the same time. This gig was only postponed and took place one month later. With Master I only think it´s too fucking sad. I visited a gig with Master and Malevolent Creation a few years ago in Uppsala and only maybe 20 people showed up. The problem is perhaps that our new metalheads know about the old classic bands. But it´s not like this all time. Usually I think you can count on an average of 100 people showing up at an underground gig (If you can buy alcohol at the venue.)

VI) As you probably know, I’ve been living in Uppsala since January. But I’ll be back to France in early June. My question is simple: will I be lucky enough to see you on fucking stage? And by the way, have you already performed in Uppsala? What are your memories ?

We played in Uppsala in 2002 on a small club called Fellinis. I don´t remember how many people that showed up, but there was enough anyway. I hope we´ll be able to give you a show in the future, in France or somewhere else. We are always looking for gigs so hopefully we´ll meet some people that wants to put up a GODHATE show in your town.

VII) Well Tony, you’ve been taking part in the metal scene for so many years now! You are into the DM background since 1991 if I’m not mistaken. What are you proud of? Do you have any regret about precise things? How would you sum up these 13 years of blood, sweat and headbanging ?

I’m proud of being a part of the underground scene since late 80’s. You’re right, I became a death metal musician in –91, but I grew up with metal music and being a fan for so long time is for me more memorable.

Musicwise I’m proud of all our outputs. From demo-95 to the latest album, Godhate, I can’t say anything that I would like to change.

VIII) And how do you consider the today metal scene in Sweden? Do you feel there is a kind of death-metal come-back? A few years before, black-metal was very “popular” (I hate to say it that way, but fuck, how to do differently?), and now, it seems it has died in here. What can you tell me about this ?

You’re right. It feels like black metal has lost it’s popularity. Only the big bands remain. Like Dark throne, Marduk and Dissection. About coming back or not; I think it’s like a circle. We have seen the revival of heavy metal and now thrash metal is coming back. Death metal is coming back too for sure. But it will probably take a few years.

IX) Do you know some ass-kicking bands from France? What do you think of our scene ?

For a long time ago I listened to Loudblast which I remember was cool. What happened to them…? Today I know about some bands like Inhumate, Dissectomy, Drowning and some more. But I don´t know anything about your scene. We have played in Paris with Benediction, but with a low amount of visitors.

X) Tony, I guess we have gone through the main points. Maybe I have forgotten to ask you something important to you! So tell me! Anyway, I thank you for your kindness and availability ! I wish you all the best with GODHATE !

Thanks to you mate for having patience with me. I guess I could have been more available, but my time is limited. Visit our website at http://www.godhate.com
