I) Hail you all in MOR DAGOR !!! How are things doing in Germany ? Greetings to all french metalmanicas! At the moment we are busy to plan a tour through Europe for next year, some gigs here and there and promotion for our new CD “Necropedophilia”. II) So, your latest album has just been released, and I must say it is a killer one. I would define it as a mix between DARK FUNERAL / UNLORD for the black-metal parts, and old BELPHEGOR for death-metal elements (I don’t say that because Torturer also blasts the drums in Belphegor now). Do you agree with me ? Many people compare us with these bands, that’s true, but that was never the aim of Mor Dagor to become a stupid duplicate. I think the reason why people compare us with these bands is because of the brutal guitar riffs and high-speed blast attacks but that´s all. III) The MOR DAGOR musical orientation lies more in black-metal. However, you recently took part in the Insane Insanity Festival with bands such as PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT, DISAVOWED, FORNICATION, etc., so only death-metal bands ! So which influences do you feel closer to ? Both music genres have their speciality. Our musical tendencies are mixed up. We only listen to really brutal and sick music. Not that kind of Black Metal where you sence it´s raped by tons of synthies and other effects. Mostly this kind of concepts suck because the musicians don’t know how to work with the shit. For us Black Metal means aggressive, sawing guitars, part with hyper blast drumming attacks and a healthy piece of neck breaking death metal. This will blow your mind like a 9mm bullet through your brain. IV) The MOR DAGOR story was not always that easy. You guys had numerous line-up problems because of the musical disability of former members. Does such decisions to fire clumsy guys mean that MOR DAGOR try to be perfectionist ? That’s true, we had a lot line up troubles. Mostly because of technical disabilities and personal reasons. Up to now we have got the strongest line up ever but this doesn´t mean to calm down. We do more than two rehearsals a week for many hours where we train our skills. Its very important to train out your abilities to put in songs to get the most out of it. We truly have a fetish for fast and aggressive music and we are for sure perfectionists. V) Do you think a metal musician must have a minimum technical abilities ? What do you think of these “true black-metal” bands having a low technical level, with a lot of bullshits sounding out of tune ? At least a metal musician must have a minimum of technical abilities, like timing and music theory. There is nothing worse than a band with timing problems. Mostly these kind of “musicians” decided in a drinking session to create a raw black metal project with all trends and define it as “true black metal”. The only true thing is that they can´t handle their instruments. That’s all. The discussion about who is true in the business and who is not is an old pair of shoes. I really don´t care because the most bands are not worth to risk an ear for their vomit shit. VI) The production on Necropedophilia impressed me by its quality ! It sounds great man ! But my question looks the same as the previous one : what do you think of bands having a poor sound in black-metal ? Is a good production important for you ? Yes it must at least have a good production. You can not tell me that you listen to music where you only can imagine the instruments. For me that is noise and not music. To create a cd means to work hard, to spend time, money and blood for the record. Without these attributes you can not create a music CD. That’s like when you found a diamant. Without work it can not become a brilliant. Its one of the most important things which divides a good record from a bad one. Like we did for our new record “Necropedophilia”. We needed almost a month to record and mix the album. But you need the time to test and workout things to achieve the best one. VII) Bloodstream, your first mini-album, and then Human Execution were released respectively in 2000 & 2001. What was the impact of these records ? I guess you got excellent reviews, but what were the main reproaches written about your music ? All in all I can say that we got really good reviews and statements about these albums. The Bloodstream Album is limited to 500 releases and almost sold out. This record has not that high technical level and consist slow and old school drum parts. On this rare piece of blasphemy you can find only all-time highlights which are really worth to break necks. The Human Execution Album goes more in the direction of violent blast metal. We red more than a million times in reviews the statement that this blast work sounded like the panzerdivision of marduk, even ten times more brutal. That guy preformed in INFERNAL DECAY, but he preferred leaving the band to fully concentrate on his new band. Was the challenge in MOR DAGOR more exciting ? What did urge him to make that choice ? But that guy recently left MOR DAGOR too for lack of motivation ! How did you come up with that problem ? Did you chose a new bass-player ? Yes with the Belgian maniac Lord Astaroth we have got the chance to perform several times in Belgium. He really is involved in many things and has good connections to famous black metal bands around the fucking planet. He organized our first tour through middle Europe together with the cirith gorgor horde. Infernal Decay was more a project which came to an end after he joined Mor Dagor. In the middle of 2004 he decided to make a brake. The reason for his decision is more a kind of private nature like job, money and so on! Nothing to do with the band. We did not chose a new bass player because it was not that urgent and maybe he would change his previous decision. A few months later he realized that a part in his life was gone and he came back to his old place in the band. Problem solved !!! IX) Your drummer Torturer joined the mighty BELPHEGOR in the year 2002. Is this situation a problem for rehearsals ? Don’t you think he may act like Lord Astaroth, that’s to say joining BELPHEGOR for full-time and leaving MOR DAGOR ? Yes sometimes it´s a problem for rehearsals. Two bands are to much but he never would quit Mor Dagor because he is a part of it and Mor Dagor of him. He is going to leave Belphegor after the recordings for their new CD. The other reason why he will quit is that he starts studying drums in university. Then their will be more time for Mor Dagor again. X) Let’s go back to your Necropedophilia album. Germany is known for its ridiculous trend to make everything censored. With such an album-title, do you think you can get into troubles with all that shit ? We don´t care about other people´s thoughts. We do what we wanna do. If our recordings will be on index one time, this will be a kind of reward that we did everything all right. We had often troubles with CD factories and other labels because of our CD covers. Mor Dagor stands for uncensored reality without mercy to mankind. Destroy all humanity.
