Questions
by Mrik answered by Insidious Omen. I) Hi guys! I feel really uncomfortable with starting the interview since I do not know anything about INSIDIOUS OMEN. You guys remain elusive with a minimalist homepage without any information or contact… So, what do we have to know about INSIDIOUS OMEN ? Why such mystery and secret ? There is a contact on the Web-site.
II) One particularity about the band is that you never released any demo before; your first step is actually a full length album. Is it a choice? Is there a reason for this ? After we finished writing we had seven
songs. III) So please tell me more about your first and latest effort entitled Upon this Throne of Flesh and Decay. It was self-released in 1000 copies, with the help of Serpent’s Tongue… Serpents Tongue had nothing to do with
the release of "Upon this Throne..." We released the CD on
our own. IV) What about Serpent’s Tongue? Is it a real UG label, or a structure aiming at promoting INSIDIOUS OMEN only ? What is the role of Aaryn in the band ? Serpent’s Tongue purchased copies of our CD for the purpose of distribution. That is the only relation Serpents Tongue has to us. V) The cover artwork is really great! What is the deep symbolic behind these sex-bleeding angels (male and pregnant female) ? The cover artwork is our logo. The angels represent the rotten Judeo-Christian divinity, which infects everything. VI) I have noticed an allusion to Fight Club in one of your songs… That’s quite an unusual reference for a Black Metal band… How important is the influence of movies on your music, and more generally, on your life ? The sample we chose to open track seven,
"The Essence of Nothingness" states "we are the middle
children of history, we have no Great War, no great depression. Our
Great War is a spiritual war, our great depression is our lives."
VII) How big is your experience in BM ? I mean, did you play in other bands before? When did you fall and get drowned in the abyssal waves of BM ? We have both been in other bands and
have been into blackmetal for a long time. VIII) What about the ideology of the band ? I heard you were into “Nietzschean Satanic Atheism”… Can you make light upon this please ? How far can Satanism be part of Atheism ? And how far can Atheism be part of Satanism, as there might be a difference to me… There is no god above or below, only an essence of being. The essence of Satan and the relation to Nietzschean thought is only for the few. We hold an Anti-judeochristian stance, that is all that matters. IX) INSIDIOUS OMEN was playing with Inquisition, Melechesh and Infernal Majesty on latest September 22nd… How was the show ? And what about next shows ? We will not be holding live rituals for a long time now. We will be concentrating on new material and its release. X) Still about live performances, how can you handle with being a two-piece band ? Do you hire live musicians ? Why did you choose the duo form ? We play as a two piece live. We may have someone play live with us in the future. We chose the duo form because we have never found any individual who shares our Ideology or musical interests that has fit into the band. XI) You said that INSIDIOUS OMEN was trying to keep “detached from the scene as much as possible”. Does the morose level of most nowadays BM bands explain your attitude ? Despite your detachment, do you still have contacts with Canadian fellows ? We keep detached for the "scene"
for the same reasons we chose the duo form. XII) Regardless of your reluctance to have contacts with the scene, you are in touch with at least some few, and one of them is RIDDLE OF MEANDER from Greece. INSIDIOUS OMEN should release a split CD with that band, right ? When will it be released ? Do you have a label in sight or do you prefer self-releases ? There are plans in the works for a split.
It should be out in early 08. XIII) Your choice is to remain as secret as possible as we said earlier: minimalist homepage, no contact and… no Myspace page ! What is your opinion about the Myspace phenomenon ? Do you think it is a useful tool to promote your music if used properly, or rather a bad trend followed by newbies and wannabes ? Do you think Myspace is killing Black Metal ? We don’t give a shit about myspace,
it is a tool for good or bad and means nothing to us. People can do
what they like with there music. XIV) One of your songs is called The Essence of Nothingness… How would you define this essence ? The Transcendence into true non-being. XV) I’m not gonna end up this interview with asking “which are your favourite bands ?” or “what is your current playlist ?”, but rather that one: if there would be only one Black Metal band, which would it be according to you ? Bzath - Moonblood XVI) Ok guys, many thanks for your answers, I hope to hear more about INSIDIOUS OMEN within the forthcoming years.
