Can you please tell me how you feel just a few weeks after the releasing of Generator, your brand new album? MF: Personally I feel fuckin tired eh eh.. me and Bard are doing lots of interviews, both phoners and via mail.. and this is an hard work, but essential for a good promotion that this new album deserve. We’re all extremely satisfied reading hunders and hunders of positive feedback coming from all around the planet. II - Among all your works, Generator is definitely my favourite one. Musically speaking, it sounds more obscure, dramatic and very gloomy. What are the dominating feelings conveyed through this album ? MF: the absence of hope, light and happiness. Chaos and Armageddon. The album is based on a specific concept called “Omnia est malis Est”.. it means Everything that exists is evil. This is a kind of reflection coming from the shit in which we and all the humanity are living into. No fiction.. just real things based on the reality. Satan is dominating the world and human minds are going mad and sick. No way. III - The mechanical aspect of the drum machine has disappeared for real drum parts, and the “Indus” touch is less present I guess… Was it a deliberate choice or did you work spontaneously without thinking how the album should sound like ? MF: When I heard Faust left Dissection I just called him in order to know more about. He told me he was free so I asked him to join us behind the drums. He said yes of course. Then we started to think about a new album in a different way and through a different approach. We cannot realize how an Aborym album could sound before to record it. We usually follow our instinct, we don’t care too much about standard and laws, we simply like to perform and create the best extreme music for our possibilities. IV - The presence of Faust on the drums really gives ABORYM another dimension, as if the band’s songs are much more mighty and fatal, a kind of musical conquering march… See what I mean? How did you come up with summoning him ? MF: Faust is both a great drummer and a close friend truly dedicated in this kind of extreme music since many years. We’re in contact from the Kali Yuga Bizarre times, he always supported us spreading informations over Norway to many many people and friends. We also did some important collaboration on With No Human Intervention and he played live with us like guest in several gigs we performed in the past. When I heard about his decision to not play with Dissection I simply asked him to join Aborym as a permanent member and he accepted our invitation with strong motivations and a great feeling. Easy. I think his performance on Generator is amazing. His drumming gaves to the album a more organic and grotesque approach. We’re also extremely satisfied and if we think about future we see lots of quality extreme metal for this band and with this line-up. We just started making music together. This is just the beginning. V - Would you contemplate recording all your previous albums with Faust on drums this time? Or do you think that the coldness of drums machine is the only way to listen to your former albums ? MF: We cannot record again all our previous albums with Bard Faust and Preben, but one thing is sure..: I would like to make a new version of “Roma Divina Urbs” from Kali Yuga Bizarre, performed with the new Aborym’ line up. No doubts it will cames out majestic like hell. VI - Attila left ABORYM but is still present on one of your tracks. What was the reason for his departure? Will he still be present during gigs for guest appearances ? MF: No. Attila is definitel the singer ov Mayhem now. Our new singer is mr.Prime Evil. Personally I m so curious the hear Attila on the new Mayhem album, and I wish all the best to him. We decided to replace Attila with a new singer cause Aborym needs people 100% concentrated in this band, attitude and methods and Attila can’t be cool for us cause as ya know Mayhem has an intense live activity, so not so much spare time for Attila. Anway, we decided together… We are all still in a strong friendship. VII - All of you guys all stem from different countries or regions, is it a difficulty to set rehearsals? How does this distance affect your way of working ? MF: No, internet is a great help in order to stay in contact in a constant way. This is not a problem for us. I also spend lots of my spare time over Norway and when we must make some rehearsals we just fix it in advance. VIII - In an interview for a magazine, you said the concept of ABORYM is based on the “Omnia Est, Malis Est” philosophy. Even if we obviously guess what it is about, please tell us more about that… MF: ye, Omnia Est Malis Est in in latin, it means “everything that exists is evil”, and this is the main strong concept behind “Generator”. No fiction.. just real things that everyday affected our life. Everybody can see it. Everything is powered by negativity. Satan is generating its army and humanity is going mad. Men against man: they are sick and fucked up. There is no hope of salvation in this concept. This is the most negative concept we did in more then 13 years of extreme music. IX - What was wrong with your former labels? And why did you choose Season Of Mist? Do you think this label can help you more in the distribution of your works ? MF: Season Mist is a big label and finally our albums will be available and easy to find all around this boring fuckin planet… no comments about Code666. They don’t deserve any words from us. X - In the same vein of ideas, I read your lyrics carefully and I noticed a strong presence of Latin expressions, thus giving a kind of spiritual feeling… Am I totally wrong to think that way? And what do you think of this new wave of “Orthodox Black Metal” bands, using Latin and religious symbols ? MF: Ha ha ha ha ha ha can Black Metal be orthodox?? I don’t care about this bullshit man.. I don’t like to name the music. I came from Italy and it’s normal for me to use some latin parts in the lyrics. Latin is the best in order to give a negative aura to some particular passages and meanings. Anyway, in 4 albums we did, we used different languages in our lyrics, from Italian, to norvegian, ungherian, latin, English… We like to be like satan: he can use all the languages from all around the world eh eh XI - I was thinking of other bands that may sound like ABORYM, but I actually didn’t find any. You have your own style and personality, and there is no other band performing the same kind of music. Which bands could possibly be influenced by your music? And what are your favourite Indus / Black bands ? MF: thanks man. Don’t know to be honest.. but there are some cool bands that maybe could be similar to Aborym, some of them are extremely good.. Black Lodge or Impure Domain perhaps.. cool bands with a great future… XII - What would you say to people who claim ABORYM’s music is not part of Black Metal because of its heretic use of machines? Fell free to insult them all as if they were just in front of you now ! MF: I don’t give a fuck. Everybody can have their own idea. I don’t care. Aborym experiments and perform extreme music since 1993. Aborym will die performing extreme negative music. XIII - I noted down an interesting quotation of yours: “Sometimes, to be Christian is such as a fashion in Italy”. Can you tell us more? Is Christianity a fashion in Italy ? MF: lots of people here is devoted to Christ just cause they’re afraid of death. People must love the death as the life. Ya, it’s such as a fashion.. most of them don’t really believe in Christian doctrine and its criteria. They are just loosers and lots of priests here lives with gold and money in heir fuckin pockets, while people is dying in the streets. It’s amazing to play black metal here. We are rebels, we are their enemies. Let’s prepare some Molotov. XIV - What are the Italian bands you would advise me at the moment? Do you feel the UG scene in Italy is strong ? MF: I suggest ya Black Flame, Nefarium, Impure Domain, Lapis Niger, Noctifier. And prepare for a newborn black creature called Malfeitor, my new side project I’m doing with my friend Atum on drums. XV - By the way, if you are into football, do you think Italy can win the world cup, or will the “Squadra Azura” fall against France as usual, eh eh ? MF: Italia this time have a great team, and I think it can go ahead and kick off many other teams.. but I think Brazil is one step ahead, they are amazing player and it will be not easy to win against those south-americans. France is a good team also, but I think this team is less strong then the previous years. XVI - What do you know about the French UG scene ? Tell me what are the bands you particularly enjoy from our country… MF: I am an immortal fan and supporter of Mütiilation. Definitely the best French black metal band. Respect and hails to Mutilation. XVII - You said your inspiration stems from everyday events. What is the current event that really makes you sick? And how do you contemplate the end of the world ? MF: I don’t care about the world. I care about my private life. There’s lot of shit here actually. The government is going to change on April, so we’ll see. As far regard the rest, well, I have to fight everyday against people who try to rip-off me, I need to work in order to survive.. sometimes is cool, sometimes is boring.. but I’m able to play music when I feel bored by the shit coming from outside. Music, sex, alcohol and close friends. XVIII - Ok, I think I’m done with my questions. Thanks a lot for your time. You can conclude as you wish… MF: thank ya man.
